Post-doctoral Research Associate.

A post-doctoral research associate position is available starting July 1, 2012 to study peptidoglycan metabolism in Neisseria gonorrhoeae and the effects of peptidoglycan fragments on gonococcal infection of human tissue. These studies will involve mutagenesis of peptidoglycanase genes in gonococci, expression and purification of gonococcal peptidoglycanases, chemical analyses of peptidoglycan fragments, and infections with gonococcal mutants. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in microbiological, biochemical, or chemical science. Experience with mass-spectrometry, HPLC, protein purification, or primary cell culture would be advantageous.

Applications should be sent to Joseph P. Dillard, Department of Medical Microbiology & Immunology, University of Wisconsin-Madison, 1550 Linden Drive, Madison WI 53706. Please include a CV, a personal statement of background and interests, and three letters of reference. Email inquiries or applications should be addressed to jpdillard@wisc.edu.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and will follow the NIH pay scale for post-doctoral fellows.
