Micro Brew Off- FALL 2013
ATTENTION ALL BREWERS!
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the kitchen...
That faint bubbling sound. The pungent smell of yeast. Could it be? Could it really be back? Have your prayers to Dionysus been answered?!
Prepare yourselves, for it is my pleasure to announce:
THE REVENGE OF THE SEMI-ANNUAL MICRO BREW OFF: A GOOD DAY TO BREW HARD
That's right! We were gone for a while, but now the micro department beer brewing competition is back in action with a special Oktoberfest Edition. The date for the fall brew-off has been set for Thursday, October 10th, 2013. That means you all have just over three months to craft your award-winning masterpieces, so plan accordingly.
THE RULES and other helpful information:
1. The date, time, and location are final. Submissions must be at Jordan Hall 2ABC by 4:30PM (no later than 5PM) on October 10th.
2. You may use parts from a kit in your brew, but your recipe must be different enough that is unique to you and not straight from a kit. Use your judgement - what fun would it be if you cheated, anyway?
3. You can work individually or in teams, but please limit submissions to three (3) per person/team.
4. You must bring at least 6 bottles (12oz each or 72oz total) of your brew for it to be eligible for judging.
5. Contact me to let me know you plan on entering the contest. You don't have to know what you are brewing yet but I would like to have an idea of how many contestants there will be. Once you do know what type of beer you'll be making (pilsner, stout, marzen, pale ale, etc.), let me know.
6. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to pour the beers - for randomization purposes, brewers are not allowed to pour their own. As incentive, you will get in early to try the beers. Contact me (acl5d@virginia.edu) if you are interested.
