Road Biking Opportunity for Interested Students/Faculty/Staff
You are invited to join Team Thermocylcers to ride 150 miles in the Tour de Vine, June 11-12th. Current Team Thermocycler members are a friendly group of recreational cyclists who are associated in one way or another with the biological sciences departments at UVA. We will be riding 75 miles each day on beautiful vineyard-laden country roads throughout Albemarle County. The ride is very well supported with rest stops every 10-15 miles. There are shorter (and longer) route options each day if you don't feel you are up for the classic 150. Each individual is required to raise $250, but we can increase our fundraising power by working together as a team. The money that we raise directly supports research for Multiple Sclerosis. So, not only is it going to a good cause, but it is also supporting research grants and is a whole lot of fun.
We will be organizing training rides every weekend until the event. However, you do NOT have to train with us nor ride with us at the event if you prefer riding solo.
To register for this event go to http://bikevab.nationalmssociety.org/site/PageServer?pagename=BIKE_VAB_register
Click on Bike MS:Tour de Vine 2011 and then register to join a team and select "Thermocyclers".
If you are already registered as an individual and would like to join our team, then send Jenny Hodges (jlh3ke@virginia.edu) an email and she will add you to our team.
Hope you join us!
