Opening the Forum

Post  adambomb on Mon Jul 18, 2011 2:58 pm

Hi everyone,

The GBS board has been discussing the possibility of incorporating a forum like this into the GBS website when it gets revamped (along with the rest of the BIMS websites) in the coming months. I figured the best thing to do would be to absorb this forum into a new BIMS-wide forum under the GBS banner. Maybe have sub-forums for the different BIMS programs, if there was a need to post program-specific news. As I see it, one of the benefits of this idea would be that more members may lead to more traffic and therefore more activity. Anyone have any opinions on the matter? Questions/comments/suggestions?

More traffic would be nice, but it seems like there are a subset of things that are MIC Dept specific.

If you move to GBS, would it make sense to maintain a subheading for MIC-specific topics?

I've been trying to think about how this would work. Additional categories could easily be added for department-specific posts, separate from the set of general forums. If said department-specific forums wanted to have restricted access for only the users from those departments, that's where it would get a little more complicated... But I don't know why that would be necessary.
